A hybrid between Bauhinia purpurea × Bauhinia variegata.
A fruitless hybrid that blooms profusely and doesn't require as much clean up. Also, this species does not naturalize and reproduce in natural ecosystems. It is often used as a street or shade tree and ornamental planting. Exotic-looking flowering tree for frost free areas. This hybrid tree does not produce fruit. Its flowers are 5 to 6 inches in diameter, larger than on other Blakeana.
