Needs good drainage. Attractive in groves. The species floribundus is lobed and does not have leaflets.
Native to California.
A Lyonothamnus floribundus subsp. asplenifolius in Woodside is registered as a California Big Tree. It measures 45 feet high, with a trunk circumference of 61 inches and a crown spread of 40 feet.
